Late Autumn News 2022

Following on from Helen’s very complete news in our previous posting (Late Summer Update), the photographs have been posted on the website. To view, see the heading Year 2022. As an update to the last post, I am pleased to say Winchester Go LD members had a really enjoyable time during their visit in August, helped by a sunny day. Many of the members do enjoy wildlife and nature and it is good to give them an opportunity of visiting somewhere locally.

The committee of OBCG are very grateful for the enthusiasm and dedication of some of our members who participated in taking part in the parish’s scarecrow competition in September. Our entry ” Holey Moley” with “Moles R US” was close to our wildflower areas next to St Marks Church. So convincing was this montage of mini scarecrows (moles) and the molehunter – the scarecrow, that a few residents were convinced that the battery had a mole problem! Congratulations to all involved, more so in that the entry won the senior category of the competition.

We have also done a final cut of the meadow area, and we have a picture of Adrian with his scythe just as he has finished his scything.

From November onwards we will be looking at work parties to do some coppicing and general maintenance, details will be posted on the future events section shortly
