We will be updating the website shortly to add some photographs that we have collected over the last year. Due to COVID restrictions we have been unable to do much strimming, coppicing and other maintenance work on the conservation area over the last six months and had to let nature take its course. We had an excellent display of Ox-eyed Daisies in the meadow as a result (photo to follow)
The wildflower areas on Olivers Battery have mostly done well this year, and the areas have been scythed recently in preparation for fresh growth next year. (Thank you to Adrian for the scything)
The group entered the Olivers Battery Scarecrow Competition this autumn and our entry, St Melangell (and hares), won second place. After a spell sitting on the bench on Olivers Battery opposite the shops, she was moved to a quieter area in the conservation area. Many thanks to all who helped in this project, but particular thanks to Wendy for her ideas, and the making of the straw hares (photos to follow)
